About Book

Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSF) is a persistent, incapacitating malady of the oral cavity exemplified by inflammation and progressive fibrosis of the submucosal tissues i.e. the lamina propria and the deeper connective tissues. OSF is characterized by a sequential decrement in jaw opening with advancement of disease, mainly due to formation of fibrotic bands in the oral mucosa. The characteristic occurrence of OSF among Indians and other Asians has prompted many investigators to search for etiologic factors that may be a part of their diet or environment. Oral Submucous Fibrosis and related diseases are dealt in depth in oral pathology but there in depth etiopathogenesis which explains its origin is not very clear with the student groups. Since we felt strongly about this aspect of dental curriculum, we have tried to compile relevant literature on etiology and pathogenesis of Oral Submucous Fibrosis. This is not a place where we are claiming any original research. Here the target is the dental students of both undergraduate and post graduate level and other medical professionals who are interested. It is a comprehensive attempt to cover all the aspects of Etiopathogenesis Of Submucous Fibrosis. It is not a voluminous book so that the reader does not get brightened by its site. Criticism and constructive comments are welcome at [email protected] We are greatly indebted to Dr. Heena Sadiq Tutor at Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Hospital. Jammu, for her support and help in compiling the data.
